Interviews,Investigators,andDivisions

Dear Friends and Family,

This week has been pretty eventful. We did divisions this week and I was able to work a little with Hermana Castillo(Peru) in our area while my companion and Hermana Watts worked in Elderado and it was super cool. We went and met with a lady who we had contacted a few days before and she gave us a reference to visit her mom who´s been sick the last several days so we went and visited her and said a prayer with her and the next day my companion and I went back and cleanned her house and washed her clothes for her and it was kinda nice doing a little service for her. Plus we were able to share a bit about the Restoration and we have more plans to visit her in the following week.
We also met with the guy that I mentioned last week and he was excited for our visit and had alot of really good questions for us and we were able to teach him about the Book of Mormon and how to pray and he told us that he wanted his whole family to listen to our message so hopefully we will be able to meet his family next week.
Also, we were able to have interviews with our mission president again which are always my favorite opportunities and we talked for a long time about lots of things that I´m hoping that I can put into practice in the next couple of weeks because while we´ve had some good experiences this week we´ve also had alot of difficulties, but I know that all will work out…..As for today, we are headed to Posadas tonight for tramites for my companion, yeah, more visa paperwork…
Lastley I wanted to mention one more experience that we had today actually on our way to write for the week. There was a lady passing by in the street who stopped us and started talking to us about how missionaries had passed by before and after talking for a few minutes she broke down in the middle of the street and started telling her whole life story about how she´s living in Paragauy and that she´s only here for the day getting more medicines to help her because she´s going through a bit of trauma and can´t sleep and has been seeking alot of help over the last several years and told us her terrible story in detail that I´m not going to share completely but basically when she was younger she was involved in sex trafficing and was taken to brasil and spain and she was telling us that she wasn´t sure if it was Satan or the will of God and how was she going to forgive these people and how she felt worthless and like a terrible person and how she had felt several times that she should take her own life….So we started talking and testifiying of God´s love for her and explainned that it wasn´t the will of God for these bad things that happened to her but that she could be healed in time through the power of Jesus Christ and that she was a precious daughter of God and that she shouldn´t even think of ending her own life and that as he perserevered, God would bless her and strengthen her….we said several other things and she cried and we gave her a hug and my companion gave her a bracelet that she was wearing and told her that whenever times get tough that it would act as a reminder that God was watching out for her. Afterwards she thanked us and went on her way and we will try to give the direction we got to the missionaries in Paraguay but it might be pretty hard to find her, but I trust in God to take care of her and it is really interesting exactly who God puts in our path, and I just hoped that the words we shared through the spirit will help her some how, and I´m grateful for the opportunity to help one of God´s children today. I testify that this church really is true and that God loves and is mindful of his children and if we are patient in afflictions, he will give us the peace, strength, and understanding that we need.
Love,
Hermana Marvian

I was making breakfast with Hermana Castillo and we made this which she said they eat alot for breakfast in Peru. It´s white rice with garlic, french fries, an egg, and toped with fried bananas….it was actually super good. You guys have to try it.

Iguazu Falls

Monday, October 19, 2015

Hola Todos,

This week we`ve had a pretty good week and have put particular focus on looking for less-active members and part member families to teach using our branch member list and we`ve had some good experiences, but more with people that we`ve found while searching for these members. Haha, all the directions that we have are usually an area of town and sometimes a street so we have to clap at every house on the street to find these members but it also makes for a good contacting approach.
And as for my spiritual experience, it is simple, but while we were searching for a house, we ran into this guy in the street and asked for directions where we ended up having a good conversation with him about quite a few things. But it was super cool because in these last several weeks he`s been making alot of changes in his life and is now looking for a church to join and he has alot of questions. So we asked if we could stop by in the week which he accepted and said that it was a miracle that we ran into him this night in which we testified that really God is aware of us and is guiding us…so, hopefully we`ll be able to visit him and teach him this week.
Also, in other news, our whole district was able to go to the famous Iguazu Falls today and let me tell you, it was absolutely beautiful!
Love,
Hermana Marvian

Investigator Experience

Tuesday, Oct 13, 2015
Hey Everybody,

Our cool experience this week was with our investigator Lourdis. She is the sister of a a recent convert that was baptized several months ago. She`s around 40yrs and has a huge problem with smoking. The first time teaching her she couldn`t even make it through a lesson without smoking a cigarrett…after the lesson I made a comment about it to my companion and she said that her and her other companion had taught her once before me and she had like 5 cigarrets in the lesson…haha a huge improvement. So we`ve been continuing to visit her which and while the visits have been difficult, she`s making progress. We visited her again and she had her pack on her lap the whole time but didn`t smoke once and we visited her again Sunday and she didn`t even bring her cigarrets to our lesson this time;) Little by little…but it`s been cool because we actually haven`t talked about it alot, but each time we visit and she feels the spirit she`s starting to make little changes in her life. It`s very interesting the way the spirit can help people change.
Thanks Everybody,
Hermana Marvian
P.S. I`ve been trying to send more pictures but every time there`s been some type of problem with the computer:( I`ll try again next time…..

Conference Weekend

Another fun week…

This week has been pretty good. This last week our mission switched back to our summer schedule of leaving earlier in the morning to proselyte and then coming back in the afternoon to do studies during the hottest part of the day which I`m pretty grateful for seeing that it`s starting to get really really hot again….yeah:( As for other not super important news I forgot to mention last week the best part of the area here in Iguazu is that our pension has a washing machine…I haven`t used a washing machine in 9 months…the small pleasures of life:) Haha, oh and when I first arrived my companion made sure to mention our friendly scorpian friend that she found in the bathroom the week before transfers that she failed to kill and warned me to be on the look out….so, today luckily we found our friend once again and were able to get rid of it so all is safe…
But anyway, I`ve enjoyed this last week alot. We found a young inactive couple this last week who have been members there whole lives but had met a couple of years back, things went to far, they ended up having a child in the process and now have been living together the last couple of years but because of what happened they fell away from the church. But luckily, we were able to meet with them and talk alot and talk about the plan God has for us and the love that he has for us and how there is always a way to gain forgiveness and have peace in our lives. It went really well and they invited us to come back the next week so hopefully we can start working with them and help them come back to church.
The other cool experience that we had was with the recent convert Rosana again. This time we went to her house to visit her and while talking to her noticed that she was upset about something. It turns out that she had a somewhat scary experience the night before and didn`t know how to interpret it and felt uneasy  so my companion and I felt impressed to see if we could call the Elders to offer a blessing which she readily accepted. So we called the Elders, hoping that they could come over despite being at the last second which they agreed to and came surprisingly fast. So when they got there we asked them how they had gotten there so quickly and one of the Elders said that they had had plans to visit a family that was super far away but had had an impression to visit someone else that was alot closer and so on their way to this house is when we called and after hanging up with us they continued to this house in which nobody was there but which made it easy for them to respond to our call and give Rosana a blessing which she was super grateful for and it was a cool testimony to me that God really is watching over us and is in charge of this work.
But anyway, I hope that everyone had the chance to watch General Conference and listen to all the inspiring talks and more importantly make plans to act on the messages that have been given. I know that there were countless answers to my own questions and I`m so grateful for the opportunity that I had to enjoy their words.
Thanks So Much,
Hermana Marvian
