Hermana Wilson Se Fue

Monday, January 25, 2016

Hey Everyone,

So, right now I`m in Posadas as I had to drop off my companion at the office today;( Yep, she`s going home…it`s really sad, but I guess it`s just part of the mission. Good Luck Hermana Wilson! As for me, I found out that my new companion will be Hermana Dempsey from Lousiana I think…I haven`t met her yet, but I`ll be meeting her this Thursday. Until then I`m heading to Corpus, Argentina for the next week to be with Hermana Ehlert and do divisions with her until we both get our new companions. It should be lots of fun.
So, this week has been good. We have this new investigator that I forgot to tell you guys about last week. Her name is Soledad, she`s a single mom with a cute little 2yrs. son. The Elders contacted her on the bus a couple of weeks ago and gave us the reference, so we went to find her last week and had a short 15 minute lesson with her and got to know her a bit and we invited her to church the next day and she came! It was super cool. Then I guess this week she`s been telling everyone how much she loved it and now this next week we are probably going to start teaching her neighbor who is now interested as well. It should be pretty exciting.
Other than that we did some pretty good divisions in our area with Hermana Nilson and Hermana Loaiza this week which went well and we also got to listen to a world wide broadcast for all the missionaries this week. It was super good. They talked alot about the fundamentals that we go over in our first three months of trainning. And I especially liked a part where they talked alot about our role as witnesses of Christ. It was mentioned that we get to share about alot of things, but our principle role is to talk and testify of Christ and his gospel which is Faith, Repentance, Baptisim, Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. He said that as we testify of Christ and His gospel, that is where our real power comes in.
But anyway, I`m excited for this next coming week and the start of a new transfer. Every transfer is unique and I`m sure this one will be great;) I`m so excited to be a missionary and have the chance to testify of Christ. I know that He lives, and that He loves every single one of us so much that he was willing to suffer and die for each and every one of us so that we can have the hope of returning to our Heavenly Father some day. One of the greatest things I love about the mission is the closeness that I`m able to feel with God. I know that each one of us can feel close to God and feel of His love as we learn to use the atonement and repent daily and change our lives.
Hope everyone has a good week,
Hermana Marvian

CURED!

Monday, January 18, 2016

Dear Friends and Family,

Well, this week I´m healed! Woohoo, this past Thursday I started working a bit and by Friday I was able to work all day again. So, now I´m just trying to make up for  lost time in our area although the last couple days have been pretty difficult. I figured that we would just go back out and change the world over night, but instead we´ve been tested alot these last couple of days and have faced alot of rejection….I feel like we´ve been rejected more in the last couple of days then we have in the last three months, but I guess that´s just how it goes….the real test is to see if we can go back out and do the work happily knowing that success will come as it surely will. But, if nothing else, then at least I can be grateful for my health:) Yeah!
Anyway, besides that we were able to do divisions with Hermana Fox and Hermana Lopez on Friday where we brought them both into our area and did double divisions in our area which was kinda fun. Usually one of us goes to their area as well but our mission president wants us to try something new and have us try to perfect our areas and then use the example to help the other girls, so, our area was kinda neglected for awhile, but we figured that we´d still try to make it work and create a good experience for the other girls and I think it went well and it was fun. It´s always a great experience to do divisions and see how other missionaries work and learn from their different ideas. Plus, Hermana Fox and Hermana Lopez are super awesome so it was great. Hopefully this next week we will be doing more divisions with Hermana Nilson and Hermana Loaiza and we can make it work as well. There sure is alot to do this next week and I´m excited to have a full new week to work and see lots of new miracles. Plus, this is the last week of my companion before she goes home:( So, we are trying to make the best of it and work super hard this week. Should be lots of fun, but it´s sad as well:(
Anyway, hope everyone has a good week and is able to see lots of miracles in their own lives. I know that God lives and that he loves his children:)
Love,
Hermana Marvian

Hospital Miracles

Tuesday,  January 12, 2016

Well,

Hope everyone had a fun filled week this week. I`ve sure had an interesting one….
This week we weren`t able to work that much in our area. We were in Posadas again Monday and Tuesday for our monthly meeting where we are still talking more about our mission culture and how we can make the mission better and inspire the other missionaries so that we can see lots of miracles happen. It was a great meeting like always:) Unfortunatly this Thursday I got really sick and I went to the doctor on Friday and I have to be on bed rest for a good week….I don`t know which has been more difficult, being super sick, or not being able to work for such a long time:( But I`m feeling a bit better today so hopefully I`ll be able to start working again within the next couple of days.
But, my cool spiritual experience to go along with my week was in my trip to the hospital. I tried calling one of the few members that has a car to come pick us up because I was to weak to walk to the hospital but she wasn`t able to take us and told us to call a taxi. However, we didn`t have a number for a taxi close by so we decided to say a quick prayer that somehow a taxi would come by to pick us up and then we left the house and started walking out down the street. About a minute after our prayer a taxi did come by but it was already full and drove right passed us and so we weren`t sure what we were going to do and we kept praying and then luckily the taxi decided to come back, still with it`s passangers and asked us where we were going because he was worried and said that we looked like we needed help and when we told him, they all agreed to let us squish in with them and they took us to the hospital for free. It was a cool answer to our prayers and we where even able to share a little bit of our testimonies with them as well. Then, while we were waiting our turn at the hospital to be seen by the doctor, this older lady came up to us super happy to have found the mormon missionaries. She told us that she was a member that lived close by but that she hasn`t been to church in many years but that she wanted to come back and that she was currently in the hospital visiting her husband who is sick with cancer. So, she asked us that as soon as we were done seeing the doctor if we could go up and say a prayer for him next to his bedside. So we went and said a prayer for him and then she introduced us to some of her children and their spouses and we ended up sitting outside the hospital answering their questions and teaching a lesson to them….I guess God always has someone for us to teach and testify to, even when we areselves are dying in the hospital…haha, just kidding I`ll be fine. But it was actually a really cool spiritual experience.
Until next time,
Hermana Marvian

HappyNewYear

Happy New Year!
Woohoo, 2016! It`s a new year, lots of new adventures and goals….it should be great:)
This week has been another good one. We were able to work a bit new years eve and then we had new years day off for p-day and we spent it in Eldorado with our district playing games and hanging out. It was alot of fun.
We`ve also had alot of good experiences this week. We have this couple that we started teaching, Leo and Loraina, and they are really cool. We had a lesson with Leo who believes in God but doesn`t really have a religion and says that none of it really makes sense and so we started teaching him with a member and taught him about the plan of salvation because he had lots of questions and he just loved it. You could really see his atitude change from the start until the end of the lesson…it`s cool to see how the spirit works with people and the scripture is definitely true that says “many are kept from the truth, only because they know not where to find it…” so after the lesson he invited us to come back this last week to teach his girlfriend who has stronger beliefs but who was really open and we were able to teach them the Restoration and give them a Book of Mormon and it went super well and they promised to start reading this week and told us to be prepared for questions because they are really curious…yep, it was cool. It`s amazin in the mission how one can go all day in the hot sun getting burned and rejected just to have the mercy of getting into one house and begin to teach and then see the light that comes into their eyes when the spirit begins to work on them and everything changes…..it just makes everything worth it:)
The gospel is great and it`s true:) Hope everyone had a good week!
Hasta Luego,
Hermana Marvian
